Denise was called to the Bar in 2022 and practises in both civil and criminal matters. In 2024, she was awarded the Patrick Yu Memorial Scholarship by the Hong Kong Bar Association.
Denise completed her pupillage with Mr Erik Shum, Mr David Ma, Mr Jeffrey Tam, and Mr Martin Ho. She obtained her Juris Doctor (First in Class) and completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Laws on the Dean’s List with Distinction at City University of Hong Kong, before proceeding to obtain the Bachelor of Civil Law from University of Oxford.
Denise’s civil practice encompasses a broad range of matters, including commercial and contractual disputes, chancery, land, probate, and public law. She has experience in cases involving unjust enrichment, conflict of laws, landlord and tenant disputes, loan recovery actions, and insurance claims.
In her criminal practice, Denise has acted in cases involving national security, terrorism, homicide, conspiracy to defraud, money laundering, child pornography, drug offences, among others. She has appeared both as a sole advocate and as junior counsel in trials and appeals at various levels of court. She also has experience advising and representing clients in matters involving regulatory and enforcement bodies, including the Independent Commission Against Corruption, the Securities and Futures Commission, and the Competition Commission.
Denise is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and is currently learning Japanese.
