Lawrence was called to the Bar in 2017 and has since been developing a broad practice. His practice covers both advisory and advocacy work in all levels of courts. He is a Patrick Yu Scholar and has been consistently ranked by legal directories such as The Legal 500 (2023-2024, 2026) and the Doyle’s Guide (2023-2025) for his criminal defence practice. He also has experience acting as amicus curiae (appointed by the Court of Appeal of Hong Kong) in criminal appeals.
In his civil practice, Lawrence has experience in cases involving areas such as land, employment, defamation, personal injuries and general commercial. He also has experience in applying for and resisting urgent injunctions.
Apart from court appearances, Lawrence has represented professional clients in disciplinary investigations and proceedings carried out by regulatory bodies including the Estate Agents Authority, the Nursing Council of Hong Kong and the Insurance Authority. He has also been instructed by regulators such as the Securities & Futures Commission of Hong Kong to advise on criminal matters.
Lawrence currently serves on the Bar Council and the Committee on Criminal Law and Procedure of the Hong Kong Bar Association. He has been a contributing editor of the Hong Kong Archbold since 2020. In 2023, he was invited by Global Investigations Review to author its inaugural chapter on the Law of Privilege in Hong Kong.
