Michelle read law at Jesus College, University of Cambridge where she obtained a BA (Hons) in Law. She subsequently completed her PCLL at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and joined Chambers in 2021 after serving her pupillage with Mr Derek Chan SC, Mr Michael Arthur, Ms. Catherine Wong, and Mr Tony Ko. She also served as marshal to Deputy High Court Judge Andrew Bruce SC at the High Court in 2021. Michelle is a Patrick Yu Scholar and a Middle Temple Scholar.
Michelle is developing a broad civil and criminal practice and has appeared both as sole advocate and led junior in various levels of courts in Hong Kong.
Michelle has experience in handling cases involving dishonesty offences, drugs offences, offences against the person, white-collar crimes and more, and has attained experience in Magistracy Appeals and appeals to the Court of Appeal. Her civil practice includes company related matters, adverse possession, construction and building management, personal injuries, judicial review, non-refoulement claims and other general civil disputes. Michelle also has experience in arbitration and mediation.
Michelle accepts instructions in all areas, and is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Additionally, Michelle is currently a member of the Committee on Criminal Law and Procedure and the Standing Committee on Civic Education of the Hong Kong Bar Association.
She is currently also a part-time lecturer for Criminal Law in the Department of Law of the University of Hong Kong.
